The Android runner
My Android phone has an embedded GPS, so I decided to test some of the free training applications of the Android market.
So far I've found SportyPal, RunKeeper and Softrace.
Today I tried the first one, which produces quite a sexy summary of my run:
However, I ain't entirely satisfied:
- The total distance is false (at least different from the one computed by my watch, and I tend to believe the watch),
- The max speed is funny (30.84 km/h, no I ain't Wile E. Coyote),
- The altitude variation is false.
Next run, I'll try RunKeeper.
All that does not matter in the end, as long as I run and I'm having fun with my mobile phone
(and I'm quite proud of my 49'53", my second personal best performance)
(knowing you're being spied by satellites definitively makes you run quicker, that's a fact)

That is a hell of a book
I Robot
question mark, give me a break
One has to spend his life choosing, rationally if possible.
Today's question might be:
Are you rather general relativity or quantum mechanics?
Rumor has it they have an argument.
The problem is that there is no way to put quantum gravity predictions to experimental tests.
Neither are some of our most important personal choices in life, whose consequences can not be recovered from if the wrong choice is made.
And sometimes, there is no such thing as a winning option.
Welcome to Life™.
(so, Quantum or Relativity?)
(I'd choose Albert)
(how could I stand against someone who declared: "The word God is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weakness."?)
(I just can't)
(yes, even after LOST finale)
Rule#8
Each layer of abstraction solves half of the problems.
(I ain't the author of this one)
OK, but Aristotle stated "that which is in locomotion must arrive at the half-way stage before it arrives at the goal".
Which loud and clear means that by adding abstraction layers, the dichotomy principle will make my problems lead to zero, but unfortunately never reach it.
So, is multiplying abstraction layers just worth?
Instantaneously, I'd say no.
Right on time
After nearly 18 years of good and loyal services, my Seiko watch died.
As its successor, I wanted a very simple one, no chronograph, no dual time, no alarm, no battery.
And I wanted it to be a diving watch, though I seldom go beyond 6 feet underwater.
(OK, never)
Call it a whim if you want
After quite a few searches, I chose this one:

It's an Archimede, a German watch with a Swiss automatic mechanism.
Now I can see the seconds pass by again.
See ya in 18 years.
And do not forget: Time stays, we go.
Bob wise words
I was only 12 years old when I discovered Dylan (thanks mother).
Now these days are long gone and though my musical tastes evolved quite a bit since then, I still like Mr Bob.
(Dylan, not Sponge)
(no, that ain't funny)
One of my Dylan fave song might be All Along the Watchtower (Oh my, 1967).
Not only because it was the background song when Kara died (hold on UG, do not cry), but also because it's a great song.
Even the lyrics talk to me:
"There's too much confusion, I can't get no relief".
"No reason to get excited", the thief, he kindly spoke,
"There are many here among us who feel that life is but a joke".
Though I usually may play the joker role in RealLife™, tonight I feel like the thief.
A joke...
Huh.
Which goes to show that best jokes aren't always funny.
So, repeat after me:
No. Reason. To. Get. Excited.
