{NEWSICON} Yes, "Infinite Confusion" fits this post nicely.
("Infinite Confusion" is a spell of the concept game ProgressQuest)
After the Chile earthquake, NASA said that the quake should have shortened the length of an Earth day by about 1.26 microseconds.
Let's have a look at how did French medias translate this fact:
la Terre tourne moins vite sur elle-même, et les jours sont plus courts.
which could be translated into:
Earth self rotation speed has decreased, and days are shorter.
That when the Infinite Confusion occurs.
If the days are shorter, then the Earth should rotate quicker, and not slower.
It appears that some people decided to extend the NASA statement, but they failed to construct a valid addition.
So, when one don't know what he's talking about, he might just report facts and resist the temptation to add dumb facts.
And the worse is that every French media is propagating the same false statement, newspapers, radio, TV.
Or...
Or I am suffering from Infinite Confusion, and shorter days really imply slower rotation speed.
(After all, am I not level XI at Infinite Confusion, so it could be me)
In this case, someone has to explain me the how's and the why's of that weird analysis.
And yes, it's hard to resist making poor jokes about a 1.26ms day length shortening.
But today I'm strong.
